Dimensions: 24 x 43 x 3"

Materials:  weeping willow branches*

This sculpture was created using a spiral technique Eva Seidenfaden learned while in Burkina Faso, West Africa.  This Burkina technique was included in her book The Art of Basketmaking which is where I learned it.  It is visually similar to the more complex Perigord Technique I use in much of my sculptural work.  Being a much simplified version, I used this weave to get my hands adept at working in a spiral as a precursor to tackling the Perigord Technique.

*Handle With Care:  weeping willow branches are not the "basketry willow" I normally use.  By nature they are very "crackly" and breakable, thus making this a very fragile, yet beautiful, piece.
